What the Better Nether mod does
Better Nether is the paulevs-authored Fabric mod that turns Minecraft's Nether from a barren three-biome hellscape into a genuinely explorable dimension. It adds Wart Forest, Nether Grasslands, Sulphur Caves, Crimson Pinewood, Blossom Ash, Emerald Grove and about fifteen other biomes, each with its own generation ruleset, block palette, structure set and hostile mob variants.
The mod stays inside the spirit of vanilla, no colourful cartoon biomes or trivialising loot. Every new biome preserves the "hostile, hot, difficult" feel of the Nether while giving you actual reasons to travel across it. Wart Forest yields nether-wart at fifty times the vanilla rate, Sulphur Caves are the only source of the mod's new brewing ingredients, Emerald Grove hides ancient shrines with high-tier loot.
Better Nether is bundled in the Better Minecraft modpack. Standalone install below.

Fifteen-plus new nether biomes

New nether structures
Ancient shrines, ruined bastions, sulphur mining camps, spore caves. Each biome has its own structure set with themed loot pools.
Nether-native mob variants
Wart Piglins, Sulphur Skeletons, Ash Ghasts, Bloom Blazes. Each spawns only in its home biome with unique loot drops.
New building blocks
Wart wood, Blossom wood, Emerald grove blocks, mushroom variants, sulphur crystal. Full building palette for a nether base.
New brewing ingredients
Sulphur Cave items unlock a set of unique potions, night vision variants, fire resistance stacking, damage reflect.

Install Fabric for Minecraft 1.19.2 or 1.20.1.

Download Better Nether from Modrinth. Install the required BCLib dependency alongside.

Drop both jars into your Minecraft mods folder. Install Fabric API on Fabric builds.

Launch and generate a new world. Existing Nether does not regenerate, only new nether chunks show Better Nether biomes.

Better Nether FAQ
Do existing nether chunks regenerate?
No, only new chunks show Better Nether biomes. If you want the full experience, /kill your existing nether or generate a fresh world.
Is Better Nether on Forge?
Not officially, the paulevs port is Fabric-only. Forge users can use Blazingly Nether or NetherEx as approximate substitutes.
Does it change ghast spawning?
Vanilla ghasts still spawn in Nether Wastes. Ash Ghasts and Bloom Blazes are additional variants that only spawn in the new biomes.
Best base biome for a nether base?
Emerald Grove has the most decorative building blocks and the calmest mob spawns. Sulphur Caves are the most defensive but also the noisiest.
